Superb results at the Golden Globes this week! Congratulations to Michael C Hall and John Lithgow for winning their awards. They did an excellent job this season, making it a strong candidate for the best Dexter season ever.
Michael C Hall had been nominated before but never won. I’m really glad he’s got the global recognition now. His portrayal of Dexter has been consistently good for four years; a perfect portrayal of someone with a very dark secret, trying to be normal and blend in. Sometimes it’s subtle – an expression he pulls when he feels awkward in a situation and he’s unsure how to react – and sometimes it’s in your face when his dark passenger is unleashed and he gets someone on his table.
I think of this Golden Globe as just reward for 4 years of hard work by Hall and it was made all the sweeter, and his acceptance speech all the more emotional, by the fact that he had only just announced his successful battle against Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The effects of the chemotherapy meant he was wearing a hat at the ceremony. However the cancer is reported to be in remission and he’s expected to commence filming of season 5 later in the year. Good news for all concerned!
As for Lithgow, his chilling performance as Trinity really made this last season and forced Hall to raise his own game. Their scenes together were always compelling and very well acted.
The disastrous Thanksgiving dinner scene at the Mitchells’ was one of the most dramatic and exciting I’ve seen in a tv show and it’s credit to the tremendous performances by Hall and Lithgow, although kudos to the writers too! The scene must now surely be on both actors’ show reels! They both did a superb job and thoroughly deserve these awards.

Dexter Episode 10 “Lost Boys” Preview
by Paul on Nov.27, 2009, under Episode Previews
Dexter now truly believes he understands the motivations and behaviour of Trinity. However he is forced to question everything he’s learned up to this point when a 10 year old boy goes missing. It’s a race against time and with every step Dexter has to the possibility that he has more in common with Trinity than he’d like to admit. Could Dex be looking into what he’ll be like in the future? A world of secrecy surrounds some close to Dexter, when Cody is forced to defend one of Dexter’s lies and Masuka, who can’t bring himself to confess that he saw Rita and neighbour,Elliot kissing. Then we have Debra, whose recent discoveries force one of Miami’s finest into making an impossible decision.

Scream Awards 2009 – Results are in!
by Paul on Oct.28, 2009, under Dexter News
Last night was the night of nights for SpikeTV’s Scream Awards. If you’re not familiar, the scream awards I posted about them when both Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter were nominated for their respective roles in Dexter. Basically the awards celebrate horror, thriller,Sci-Fi and other associated movies, TV shows and comic books. Very Emmy type categories are included, but a few extra gorey ones are added such as the Fight Scene of the Year, the best HOLY S^&* scene and my personal favourite, Most Memorable Mutilation.
This year the most True Blood swept away most of the awards including Best TV Show, Best Horror Actress (Anna Paquin) and Best Horror Actor (Stephen Moyer). No offense to any fans of the genre but I really find these vampire themed shows to be utterly dull, overacted & uninvolving. However this is the current in thing and the Scream Awards which are visitor voted, reflect this.
As Dexter, although thrilling and quite graphic is not the most horrific to watch compared to the vampire genres or movie such as Saw. So I was’nt expecting alot from the Scream Awards crowd. Michael C. Hall missed out on Best Actor, but a nice surprise is Jennifer Carpenter won Best Supporting Actress! All I can say is congrats Jennifer & keep up the good work. If find you to be a very talented actress, but unfortunately the Deb character leaves me wanting more depth, rather than just a crapload of swearing, tears and unlucky romances.
Scream Awards – Pre-show quick interviews including Julie Benz and Jennifer Carpenter, who exclaimed how amazing it would be to win a Scream Award! Congrats again Jennifer

Dexter Movie in 2010?
by DexFan on Apr.09, 2009, under Dexter News

Talk on the rumourmill is that Showtime are looking to capitalise on the success of Dexter and produce a straight-to-dvd movie. SyFy content producers of Battlestar Gallactica & Stargate series has Showtime wondering if they get their own cashcow with Dexter.
As yet there is no confirmation of which series will be the focus of this project, but apparently Showtime are looking at Dexter, The Tudors and (not yet aired) Hero. If Dexter is chosen then expect to hear about it at the 2009 San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) in July.
The rumours continue that if they got the go-ahead the film would be release between the 4th and 5th seasons, which will give fans something to look forward to between the inter-season hiatus of 2009-2010.
