A jar of blood containing a hotel key turns up at the station, leading to a blood filled hotel room. After entering the room, Dexter collapses in a panic attack flooded by a horrifying childhood flashback. The situation with Rita and Paul escalates when he charges Rita for assault and she is advised that she could lose the kids in a custody battle. Upon learning this, Dexter takes matters into his own hands and attempts to get Paul out of their lives. Debra becomes concerned with Rudy’s interest in Dexter, believing that Rudy would rather spend time with her brother, rather than herself. Letting off some steam in a nightclub with party-animal Vince Masuka, Angel Batista spots a hooker with a prosthetic hand with nail polish resembling an Ice Truck Killer victim. Due to increasing bad publicity over the Ice Truck Killer case, LaGuerta’s boss, Captain Matthews points the finger at LaGuerta, who in turn, embarreses Matthews in a media interview. Now furious, Matthews threatens LaGuerta, saying that now she will see his ‘true colors’.
