Dexter’s adoptive father and the first to recognise Dexter’s urges to kill.  Harry is a legend among the Police Force, now deceased.  Using his superior skills as a detective, Harry taught Dexter how to evade the police by the techniques they use to catch killers.

Most importantly Harry instituted “The Code”; an set of rules to keep Dexter killing in the name of good and to ensure his safte, the number 1 rule being “Don’t get caught”.  He appears to Dexter as flashbacks, sometimes to re-affirm the importance of “The Code”, Dexter calls upon memories of Harry’s lessons.
