Emotionally disconnected from the world, Dexter Morgan views his life from a birdseye view. His days are spent investigating crime scenes as a bloody spatter analyst for Miami Metro Homicide division. With his girlfriend Rita and her two kids from a previous marriage as well as foul-mouthed adoptive sister Debra.

The closest Dexter can come to feeling any emotion is when he kills. His bloodlust cannot be contained, however Dexter’s adoptive father Harry Morgan, a now deceased and famous policeman, knew what Dexter was. As he loved Dexter, he became to train him in “The Code”, an ethos to channel his need for killing and evade detection by the law.

Although not a fully-fledged officer, Dexter has access to Police resources which he uses to find, assess and hunt killers who have escaped the justice system, the only way he can justify his bloodlust.
