Motivated by a need for approval from father Harry Morgan, Debra became a police officer, working for Miami Metro with adopted brother Dexter. Due to Dexter’s ‘issues’, Harry paid Dexter much more attention, often leaving poor Deb out in the cold. Debra is smart, sassy, sexy and has the mouth of dock worker, yet is professionally insecure.
Unaware of Dexter’s secret, Debra seeks emotional support from him, wishing he’d ‘open up’ more often. Even though Dexter is emotionally distant, he does believe that “if I could have feelings at all, I’d have them for Deb.”
Unhappy working for Vice, Debra leans on Dexter in the department thanks to his ‘hunches’ on serial killer cases. Along with some advice on confidence, Dexter does help Deb and her ambition to move into the Homicide division.
