Dexter’s season 4 antogonist has been announced, an exclusive source to Michael Ausiello has told him that Emmy & Tony award winner, John Lithgow will join the Dexter cast as Walter Simmons, a quiet suburbanite who has been living a double life (sound familiar?) as one of America’s most prolific serial killers. Dubbed ‘The Trinity Killer’, as he always kills in threes.
Simmons moves to Miami and comes under Dexter’s (Michael C. Hall) radar, Dexter becomes obsessesed with his efficient killing methods and his ability to evade capture for nearly three decades. John Litghgow will appear in all 12 episodes. Also the Simmons character has given the writers a reason to return Deb’s (Jennifer Carpenter) father figuer/ex lover & FBI special agent, Frank Lundy (Keith Carradine), who tracks Simmons to Miami.
You’ll remember from Season 3, Jimmy Smits played Miguel Prado, Dexter’s nemesis. Jimmy played an excellent part as Miguel and I’m sure John will kick it up a notch to make Season 4 a must watch this year.
Julie Benz was very excited & announced on Twitter:
I have two words for you…. John Lithgow! John Lithgow John Lithgow John Lithgow!! Soooo cool! 4:19 AM May 28th
Dexter Season 4 premieres September 27 and with John Lithgow on board will no doubt be another killer season.

When Dexter returns later this year, six months will have taken place on-screen. Newlyweds Rita and now Daddy Dexter have a baby boy. Unfortunately that means viewers will miss out on the actual childbirth.
Exec Producer Sara Colleton revealed to Entertainment Weekly:
“This season, we’re going to deal with: Can a serial killer juggle a personal life, work, and his ‘dark passenger’? executive producer Sara Colleton told Entertainment Weekly. “In other words, can Dexter have it all? Which is something all of us grapple with every day of our lives. So we’re taking something that is a very human dilemma and putting it through the prism of Dexter’s special needs.”
In addition to this juggling act, a new male (yet to be cast) antagonist will be entering Dexter’s life and will “cross paths with Dexter in a major and dramatic way” announces Colleton. “He will illuminate a lot about Dexter’s life and force him to make some tough choices.”
As if Dexter won’t have enough to deal with, his sister Debra (and for the first season, Michael C. Hall’s real-life wife, Jennifer Carpenter), will unwittingly shed light on his dark secret. “All the way through the season, Deb — in her need to know her father more — is going to get closer and closer to figuring out who Dexter’s mother was and her relationship with her father,” says Colleton.
So might the day come when Dex is forced to slice up his foster-sister? “That is inconceivable to me,” declares Colleton. “Deb and Dexter are the best brother-and-sister team ever.”
This Dexter fan can hardly wait. Will Rita be a nag poor Dexter and not let him out of the house to attend his is darkest needs? How about Rita’s secret that Dexter is her 3rd husband? However it plays out, season 4 is shaping up to be as plot-twisty and addictive as ever.
